TKAM Chapter 24&25

TKAM Chapter 24&25
Choice C: So far, is this a novel about race? Class? Gender? Coming of Age? Place? Select and defend your answer.

I feel that this book is mostly about race and what class you are in. If you are apart of the rich people then you would probably live the best lives out of everyone else.Th reason why class is a big part in this book is because in Maycomb the higher you are in class the more respect you have in the town. Respect was something I think all of the black people wanted. I think they have already got over this feud about different color of the skin and how everyone is equal. I think they want all the other white people to understand that it doesn't matter about your skin color.

I also think race has a big part in this book because the white person always wins. I think that if Tom Robinson was a white person he would have easily won the trail. I think that in this book it may all turn around. Like the black people will become more respected than the whites. I think this because when Tom Robinson said that he felt sorry for the Ewells it changed the hole story. At first you would feel that people would feel sorry for the black, but they actually feel sorry for the whites.

I think that if scout and Jems mom was still here it would change this story a lot. First of all Aunt Alexandra wouldn't have to come over to give them more of a feminine feeling. Also i think she would help out scout a lot more. I think not just scout and Jem would be affected but the Atticus would be also. I think Atticus would be acting different also.
He would be more friendly as in not lonely all the time. I think he needs a wife to keep him happier and to also have help in controlling his kids. She could talk to her when she needs help. Like when Jem and Dill got close scout could go to their mom instead of Ms. Maudie. I feel that a girl need their mom in life. Without their mom they wouldn't know what to look out for because their dad doesn't know everything about a girl.
I think that Scout would at more like a girl and Jem they would be better people. Like Jem wouldn't go wild all the time. He would be more obedient. With their mom in the picture I don't think that Jem and scout would have even met Dill and all of the stuff that happened with Boo Radley wouldn't have happened. They wouldn't have tried to sneak in our put notes in his window. Scout and Jem would have found out more about the Finch's then they did before. I think that they would of found out that their dad was a good shot and how the Finch's really act. So I think that overall having the mom in this story would make their life easier and would change everything.

TKAM Chapter 13-15 Journal #5

Journal #5
Chapters 13, 14, & 15
Perspective: Aunt Alexandria

Today I have announced that I would be living with them. I want to emerge in with them more. I feel that I have been extracted from their family. Their dad wanted me to come and live with them because he said they needed more feminine in their life. Now I have been living with them for a while I seem to be fitting into their neighborhood. I think I have acquired their love and compassion but I feel that I am still being mean to them. I need to show them what being a Finch really meant.
Scout figured out what Atticus was trying to make us do but he told her that a man couldn’t do a women’s job. Now Calpurnia wants to move in. When she moved in she wanted to take the kids to her ecclesiastical church. She feels it is the infallible thing to do. Now Scout wanted to go to Calpurnia’s house. I had to say no because I knew that was the right thing to do. I felt that if Scout goes around Cal’s neighborhood something is going to happen because she is white. I didn’t even want Cal to take them to church. After this Scout found Dill under her bed hiding. I feel that it was right for Dill to run away from his home because they didn’t really want him there. His dad would give him a toy and just tell him to play with it. He never got to actually play with his mom or dad. If my parents would have been like that I think I would have done the exact same thing. I feel really sorry for Dill. I would hate for anyone to have parents like he does. The day is over and now Dill’s parents had let him stay in Maycomb for ever. He didn’t have to keep switching houses every school period.

TKAM Chapter 10-12

Journal #4
Chapter 10-12
Perspective of Atticus

Im Number 1

Today was a very exciting day. My daughter, Scout, told me about the fight that has happened at school because of how I am defending a Tom Robinson in the case. My kids started to notice how I am holder then the parents of the kids in their class. I think they were very disappointed in me because I could play football or be on the team when it was Methodist vs the Baptist Fundraiser. Nor did I hunt or fish like some of the other parents. Later that day there was a dog. We needed to isolate the dog. We thought that the dog a rabies. It was like was like the dog was fanatical. So my job was to shoot it. I became acquainted with the gun I was using. As we were debating the sheriff started talking about how I was very good at shooting. As I was adjacent to the dog I felt real bad. But it was okay because the dog was evil. I had to keep the sheriff shushed because if that got out to my children it wouldn't be good. Now I told my kids to only shoot at cans and bluejays because if you kill a mockingbird that is a sin. This is one of my first time I had talked about sin. I really meant this because I didn't wasn't them getting to caught up in killing.
Now that Jem needs to walk to the post office he has been walking back a grumpy old lady named Ms. Dubose. I try to be nice to here sometimes but thing just don't work out. She would sit on the front porch of her house in shawls with her wheelchair. I have heard rumors that she keeps a pistol beneath her shawls. I don't really believe that rumor. My son Jem had messed up her flowers so he had to read to her and fix them. After reading to her for about a month she died. I felt really bad for the old women. After this my daughter had the nerve to ask why my client was in jail. So I tell her that he was accused of rape by Bob Ewell. I also told her what rape is. She felt very interested to learn this. And that this wasn't true.

TKAM Chapter 8-9

Journal #3-
Chapters 8 & 9
Perspective: Scout

Today was one a very unusual day. It is now winter time in Maycomb. It started to snow. I was very excited that it was going to snow because I also ways wanted to make a snowman. We also met this weird guy that was peeing of his porch last summer. He told us that the weather changed because of us bad kids. But we didn't really care we just used our evasion skill to keep away from him. We just went to the snow and played. Then my brother had an idea to make a snow man. The snow man looked like Mr. Avery. It would be cool if we could get the snowman to teeter so that it would look more human. My dad, Atticus, was very happy about what we had done and he wanted us to put some clothes on it so that it wouldn't look like Mr. Avery. We got the clothes from this one lady named Miss Maudie. She was like a chameleon who work in her flower bed. Later that night my dad woke me up because Miss Maudie's house was burning down. I was very scared. This was tormenting me greatly. My dad told me and my brother Jem to go to the Radley house to watch the house burn down. I had then decided that there was no point in quibbling. As I was watching the house burn down some had put a blanket over me. I had no idea how that even got there. My brother and my dad thought that it was Boo who had covered me up. My dad wanting me to return the blanket but Jem said no and told my dad about all of the secrets. Like his pants and the knot hole in the tree. My dad agreed with Jem and kept everything to himself. When ever I find out who covered me I will thank them a lot.

TKAM Chapter 4-7

Journal #2-
Chapters 4-7
Perspective: Jem

Today I found out my sister has been taking trips over by the Radley house. She showed me this chewing gum she found in a tree by the house. I got really scared about her chewing that gum so I told her to spit it out. I didn’t know what had happened to that gum. Mr. Radley could have poisoned it. School has ended for scout and we found two pennies in the exact same tree Scout found the gum. It was like Boo Radley was trying to send a message to us or giving us a gift. I am happy that school has ended because that means Dill is coming back to Maycomb. We made up this cool new game in which we would roll each other in a tire. The bad thing that happened was that when it was my sister’s turn she rolled into the step of Mr. Radley’s house. I got really scared and I started to panic. But having Scout run into the step gave me a good idea to make up this new game called Radley. Over this summer the game we are playing is getting much harder. Soon enough my dad had found out about this game we have been playing. I had to make up a lie about the game we have been playing because we would have gotten in trouble. But now I feel this game isn’t safe to play now. After all of this Dill and I have became much closer in friendship.

TKAM chapter 1-3

Journal #1
Chapters 1-3
Perspective of Scout

Today I saw some really awkward things. First of all I got to see the scary Radley house. We didn’t know the form of intimidation Mr. Radley had. All we knew was that he kept Boo chained to his bed and out of sight. I also can’t believe my brother Jem touched the house. It was like nothing irked him at all. I also feel very well that I am going to start my first day of school. I feel very eccentric about being different from everybody else when I get there. When I started school I had felt very guilty about being very educated. But I feel that I have persevered in my learning of reading. I tried really hard and my dad didn’t stop teaching me. At lunch I made a pronouncement to Walter and I shoved his nose in the dirt for getting me in trouble. But I don’t hate him for doing this.
My dad invites Walter do dinner and I make fun of him and how eats his food. I think he is doing this to get me scared but I am no so sure. Then Calpurnia had to call me into the kitchen to hit me. Walter had got me into trouble once again. I am starting to not like this kid. The next day at school this kid named Burris Ewell had a bug crawl out of his hair. That was very gross. Burris was also a poor kid just like Walter. But Burris was much poorer than Walter. I also learned that Burris is so poor he only goes to school on the first day so that he can avoid any trouble with the law. Near the end of the day I am not feeling very well and my dad asks what’s wrong. I say that I wasn’t feeling well. I didn’t want to go to school anymore and I wanted my dad to teach me instead. My dad starts to talk about how I need to go to school because of the law but he promised me that he would keep reading to me.

QUESTION 16:Which character would you like (or not like) to be your friend? Why?
RESPONSE 3:The character I would most like to be my friend is Alex Rider. I feel that since Alex is always in cool adventures and so I might be in one. I felt that Alex was very lucky to be a spy in this book. I thought it was cool how Alex got to make a fake ID and had to spy on the people in this book. I would probably think that everyone would like to be friends with Alex Rider just because of all of the things Alex gets into. Like how he went to his uncles job to look for more clues about his uncles death.

QUESTION 12:Do you think you would read another book by this author? Why or why not?
RESPONSE 3: I think that I would read another book by this author because the one I just read was really fun to read. There were times that I felt Alex was going to get caught sneeking into his uncles office. And other times were I felt sad. I would also have to read other books by this author because to get what was going on in the beginning of this whole accident. Once I started reading it didn't make since but then I ask one of my friends who read the sequal to this book about what happened in the first one. This got me to figure out what was going on and helped me understand what was happening.

QUESTION 1: How is a character in your book similar to a character in another book, story, or movie?
RESPONSE 1: The character in this book is similar to a character in the movie Nim's Island. They are similar because they do the same thing. They even named the character after the person in the book. In the movie Alex Rider had to find out where Nim's father was. So she had and adventure just like in this book.

QUESTION 7: How did what you read today make you feel? Why?
RESPONSE 2: Today when I read I felt like I needed to know more about the book. You would have to read all the series before this book to understand what was happening. So when I was reading this book the author would refer to the other series of this book and I wouldn't understand what was going on. Next time I read I will make sure there isn't another series before this and if there is I should read it first

QUESTION 4: What character do you like most in this book and/or what character do you like least? Why?
RESPONSE 1:
The character I like the most is Alex Rider. I feel that Alex Rider is one of those cool people but also the adventure type. He kind of reminds me of Indiana Jones. Just not with the cowboy outfit and Alex is a spy. The character I dislike is Ian Rider. I dislike him because he died so soon. He was in a car accident when he was driving home. He got his by a truck and the police claim that he wasn't wearing a seat belt.

QUESTION 6: Explain how the author creates suspense in this book.
RESPONSE 2: I think the author creates suspense in this book because when a chapter is about to end something huge happens. Like what it said before chapter 1 ended, " Whatever the truth was about uncle's past, someone had just wiped it out." This want you to read more about who wiped it out
